How Neiman Marcus can save the Luxury Business by Liselle Kiss.
With the bankruptcy filing of Neiman Marcus today, what is the fate of luxury? Has luxury been too fast, like its mass produced counterparts? What have we forgotten or lost, for well respected, luxury retailers to think again about their Millennial approach?
I believe that Made to Order, or Slow fashion can save the day.
Here are my 3 reasons:
1) Something special, should be made when ordered. Especially if you're spending more than $1,000 for the item. If you want a 5 star experience, go to a 5 star restaurant.
2) A made to order luxury item is always worth the wait, and possibly never experienced or touched by anyone else. You've worked hard for this, you deserve this.
3) Less production of luxury would do good for both the customer and the brand. What if Neiman Marcus was a display store, and you ordered what you wanted and had your items shipped to your door, knowing that it's freshly manufactured for you?
